UMDONI PARK
There is an extensive network of trails through Umdoni.The EXCEPTIONAL forest birding at Umdoni Park is one of South Africa 's best kept secrets. The name 'Umdoni' refers to the water berry tree present on the estate along watercourses and in the swampy areas.

BIRDS TO BE SEEN: Spotted Ground-Thrush, White-starred Robin, and Yellow-throated Woodland-Warbler are winter visitors. Characteristic forest birds include, Black Sparrowhawk, Little Sparrowhawk, African Goshawk, Lemon Dove, Knysna Turaco, Purple-crested Turaco, African Emerald Cuckoo, Green Malkoha, Narina Trogon, Trumpeter Hornbill, Crowned Hornbill, Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird, Scaly-throated Honeyguide, Olive Woodpecker, Square-tailed Drongo, Grey Cuckooshrike, Terrestrial Brownbul, Yellow-bellied Greenbul, Red-capped Robin-Chat, Brown Scrub-Robin, Ashy Flycatcher, Blue-mantled Crested Flycatcher, Southern Boubou, Gorgeous Bush-Shrike, Orange-breasted Bush-Shrike , Southern Tchagra, Black-bellied Starling, Grey Sunbird, Olive Sunbird, Dark-backed Weaver, Swee Waxbill, Grey Waxbill , Green Twinspot, Red-backed Mannikin, White-eared Barbet.

ORIBI CONSERVANCY / IDWALA NATURE RESERVE
Positioned in the UmzimKulwana river valley, this impressive reserve virtually forms an extension of the well known Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve. The area appears to have a slightly drier climate than Oribi Gorge with a more open valley & bushveld type vegetation.

BIRDS TO BE SEEN: Olive Wood-pecker, Knysna Woodpecker, African Finfoot, Emerald Cuckoo, Black Cuckoo, Black Cuckooshrike, Striped Pipit, Narina Trogon, African Pygmy-Kingfisher, Knysna Turaco, Purple-crested Turaco, Yellow Weaver, Lemon Dove, Forest Buzzard, Cape Vulture , White- starred Robin, Brown Scrub-Robin and Mountain Wagtail . Common Cuckoo, African Fish-Eagle, African Crowned Eagle, Long-crested Eagle, Terrestrial Brownbul, Yellow-bellied Greenbul, Red-capped Robin-Chat , Brown Scrub-Robin, Cape Batis, Ashy Flycatcher, Blue-mantled Crested Flycatcher, Southern Boubou, Gorgeous Bush-Shrike, Orange-breasted Bush-Shrike, Southern Tchagra, Black-bellied Starling, Grey Sunbird, Olive Sunbird, Collared Sunbird, Dark-backed Weaver and Swee Waxbill.
